A pyramid scheme is a fraudulent business model that recruits members through the promise of payments or services for enrolling others into the scheme, rather than providing legitimate products or services. As the scheme grows, it becomes unsustainable because it relies on an ever-increasing number of recruits to continue generating profits, leading to the majority of participants losing their money. Pyramid schemes are illegal in many countries because they are deceptive and ultimately harm the majority of participants. **
